Appointments

Routine appointments

We offer pre-bookable appointments with our GP’s, Nursing and Pharmacy Team throughout the week 8.30am – 6.00pm.

GP appointments are bookable over the phone, at the reception desk and online.

Our nursing and pharmacy team appointments are bookable over the phone and at the reception desk, smear test appointments are available to book online – due to the varying reasons for the appointment and length required we do not offer all nursing team appointment booking online.

Routine appointments are available to book 4-6 weeks in advance.

Chaperones

We have a policy to provide a chaperone for intimate examinations but in certain circumstances you can ask for a chaperone not to be present.

Urgent Appointments

If you require an appointment on the day or more urgently than routine we will endeavour to arrange an appointment as soon as possible – this may be here at the practice with a GP or our Advanced Nurse Practitioner if appropriate, or at one of several GP access centres across the city offering both GP and Practice Nurse Appointments in the evenings and weekends.

We ask that you call us as early as possible on the day and before 10.30am to ensure we can deal with your issue the same day.

Consult with a Doctor online

You can contact us online about a medical, administrative or prescription issue.

Answer a few short questions and we will get back to you within 2 working days. Please do not use this online form for urgent or emergency requests. The submitted forms will only be read during office hours. The forms will not be read on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) or on bank holidays. Please contact 111 during out of hours or 999 if this is an emergency.

The outcome of your assessment will direct you to the right treatment, whether emergency care, your GP, nurse or self-care.

The information you provide will be shared with our clinical team (where appropriate) and will assist in providing robust information of your problem to the required clinical team member prior to your appointment (if required).

Extended Access

Local GP practices have teamed up to improve the way we provide weekend and evening appointment for our patients.

This will mean that most people will be able to book weekend and evening appointments closer to where they live. For our patients appointments will be provided at Carterknowle Surgery, Greystones Medical Centre and the University Health Centre.

Remote and face-to-face appointments can be made with a variety of GP practice staff including Doctors, Advance Care Practitioners, Nurses, Nurse Associates, Health Care Assistants, Physiotherapists and, Pharmacists.

Initially appointments can be booked through the practice, but we will soon be adding the option for patients to book direct online and through NHS 111. Click here to find out more

Home Visits

Please make requests for home visits before 11.00 am whenever possible. The Doctor or Nurse can visit at home when the patient is too ill or frail to leave the house. We will only visit within our practice area – if you are staying away from home you will need to contact a local GP and register with them as a temporary patient
